"Christmas Came Early This Year"

Christmas came early this year.
That’s not something I generally cheer.
Not till Christmas is actually near.

One person said this Thanksgiving holiday
that they were thankful for Christmas and Mel Torme (“The Christmas Song”).
I can’t believe..it takes so much away.

I pass by the evergreens in the parking lots.
You can get a good pick now before they’re all bought.
You’ll end up with dry trees more often than not.

I gave my parents my Christmas list.
When dad saw he clenched his fist.
I think I’l just give mom a kiss.

What’s on sale now at the department store?
What do you buy for a family of four?
Fruitcake! Who could ask for more?

It’s time to put up the decorations.
The lights outside are a sensation!
I hang up my childhood creations.

When Christmas day is finally here,
does anybody really care?
I mean won’t they be tired of it?
You know, Christmas came early this year.
